Doctoral Research Study: Sickle Cell Disease & Nutrition 

On The Air Sickled is sharing an opportunity for adults living with Sickle Cell Disease (HbSC and HbSS) to participate in a doctoral research study. 

Chardonée Donald, our Co-Founder and President, is conducting a doctoral research study exploring how adults with Sickle Cell Disease understand, navigate, and integrate nutritional guidance alongside conventional medical care.
 
The purpose of this research is to better understand the lived experiences of adults with Sickle Cell Disease and how nutrition is understood and incorporated into their personal health and healthcare experiences.  

Interested in Participating?

You may be eligible if you: 

  • Are 18 years of age or older

  • Have Sickle Cell Disease HbSS or HbSC

  • Currently live in Washington, D.C., Maryland, or Virginia 

  • Have not received or currently receiving gene-editing therapy

What Does Participation Involve? 
  • Complete the brief screening tool to determine whether you may be eligible. 

  • Participation includes a one-time 60-90 minute virtual interview for individuals who meet the study's eligibility requirements and choose to participate.

Completing the screening does not obligate you to participate. Participation is voluntary.
